About USF Reddaway
A less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping company with its headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon is called USF Reddaway Inc. (making trade as Reddaway). The firm is owned by Yellow Group (formerly YRC Worldwide), an investment group for transportation and logistics with operations in British Columbia, the Western United States, Hawaii, and Alaska.
In June 1919, Reddaway’s Truck Line, Inc., a forerunner to USF Reddaway, was founded in Oregon City, Oregon, by William Arthur “Art” Reddaway (1888–1957) with a single Ford Series T car. His spouse, Ethel May Joslin Reddaway (1886–1956), ran the business as chairman. His son, Walter Wayne “Walt” Reddaway (1915–1979), took over and operated the company until his retirement in 1970. Walt later created the Reddaway Mechanism, a mist defense rain cover designed specifically for the transportation sector. He received copyright protection for his creation in 1975.
Another restructuring took place in 2011. USF Reddaway, USF Holland, and USF Glen Moore were rebranded as Reddaway, Holland, and Glen Moore after getting rid of the “USF” from their company names. Reddaway, Holland, and New Pennsylvania were the only companies remaining in the YRC Provincial Division when YRC acquired Glen Moore-Celadon Trucking in 2011. The very next year, Reddaway moved its main offices from Oregon City, Clackamas County, to Tualatin, a neighborhood of Portland. By 2021, the firm says it will be running 1,500 automobiles (such as box trucks) and 5,000 trailers out of 50 customer centers with more than 3,000 employees. The YRC company was renamed to Yellow Corporation in 2021 and declared plans to merge all of its copyrights by 2022.
